Advanced drug discovery technologies are yielding a dramatic increase in the number of potential drug candidates. However, optimisation of these compounds is becoming increasingly reliant on absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion (ADME), and toxicological (Tox) issues, a major bottleneck in the drug discovery process. At least 50% of all drug failures in pharmaceutical research are believed to be due to ADME-Tox considerations.
